Modern Mamas Village ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, email us at support@modernmamasvillage.com.

1. Information We Collect

Information you give us

  • Account registration: name, email address, and password when you create an account.
  • Booking details: service address, preferred dates and times, and any notes about what you need help with.
  • Payment information: billing details collected and processed by Stripe. We never store your full card number — Stripe does.
  • Career applications: name, contact information, work history, references, and any other information you include in your application.
  • Waitlist and survey: email address and answers you provide when joining our early-access list.
  • Reviews and feedback: ratings and written reviews you submit after a booking.
  • Contact messages: name, email, and message content when you reach out to us.

Information collected automatically

  • Session cookies: used to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. Managed by Supabase Auth.
  • Basic usage data: pages visited, browser type, and device type — used to improve the site and diagnose issues.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To schedule and coordinate bookings between families and helpers.
  • To process payments through Stripe and send receipts.
  • To communicate with you about your bookings, account, or service updates.
  • To review and process career applications, including running background checks on applicants who advance in the process.
  • To send early-access updates and service announcements to waitlist members (you can opt out any time).
  • To improve the site, detect and prevent fraud, and respond to support requests.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data to show you third-party ads.

3. Background Checks

As part of our helper vetting process, applicants who advance past initial screening are asked to consent to a background check conducted by a third-party screening provider. Background check results are used solely to evaluate fitness for working with families and are handled in accordance with applicable employment and consumer reporting laws. Applicants have the right to receive a copy of their report and to dispute inaccuracies.

4. Children's Privacy

Our website and services are intended for adults (parents and guardians) only. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Booking details may reference children in your household (e.g., ages and names for childcare purposes) — this information is provided by the parent or guardian and used only to coordinate your service.

If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child without parental consent, please contact us immediately at support@modernmamasvillage.com and we will delete it promptly.

5. How We Store and Protect Your Data

Your data is stored securely in our database hosted by Supabase (PostgreSQL), which uses encryption at rest and in transit. Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth, which uses industry-standard practices including hashed passwords and secure session tokens.

Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment processor. We do not store your full card number on our servers.

Transactional emails (booking confirmations, receipts, etc.) are sent via Resend. We retain only the minimum data needed to send and log those communications.

We use the following third-party services to operate Modern Mamas Village:

Resend Transactional email delivery

Vercel Website hosting and deployment

Each of these providers has their own privacy policy governing their use of your data. We encourage you to review them.

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies only — specifically, the session cookies set by Supabase Auth to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear cookies at any time in your browser settings; doing so will log you out of your account.

8. Data Retention

We retain your account and booking data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Career application data is retained for up to 12 months after a decision is made, then securely deleted. If you request deletion of your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (e.g., financial records).

9. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Delete your account and associated personal data.
  • Opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send.
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy as our services evolve or as laws change. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we'll notify active users by email.
